Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 - 2:37 a.m.

Well. I've been away a while, huh? Frankly, I've had nothing more than bile to spill, so I figured between that, the PMS, and the flu, I'd best spare you, gentle readers. You may thank me now.

It's been an interesting week, btw. So I have some links for you to explore, some fun, some educational. Let's do the fun stuff first, shall we?

How feel you about the diamond Ashcroft has shoved up his ass? You might enjoy this. It even calls you names. I found it amusing a coupla times.

If war games are up your alley, you can simulate Gulf War II here and play it out to its conclusion. Only, you don't get to really do much other than watch it unfold. You *do* get to pick the next leader of Iraq, though. The choices are great. I thought this was pretty amusing more than a few times. I especially liked that Cheney talks out the side of his mouth.

If you'd like to have email alerts mailed to you when something important in Congress warrants your attention, you should probably go here. It's the National Organization of Women's Action Alerts list. They also run a site called The Truth About George, which also has a sign-up sheet for notification of some of what Idiotboy is up to.

Speaking of Idiotboy...
Were any of you paying attention this week when the Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003 hit the light of day? Mainstream press actually delved into it a little, but you mostly had to veer off the beaten path, into places like The Center for Constitutional Rights, the Center for Public Integrity, and National Public Radio to hear about it. I caught it the day CPI broke it, which was last Friday, Feb. 7. Someone in the Justice Department is a thinking human being with a fucking conscience, who had the good sense to realize that something really needed to be done and gave a copy of the document to CPI. They fact checked it and ran with it. 45 minutes later, Justice tried to do damage control and finally admitted that a document they have spent the last 2 or 3 months denying the existence of did in fact actually exist. So they released a public statement and tried to downplay the seriousness of the whole damn thing. I suggest you read it and analyze the precedents set by it. If Patriot Act doesn't make an impact on you, I suppose there's a good chance this won't either, but you should really think long and hard about giving the government the okay on revoking your citizenship and expelling your ass from the country. Because among other things, DSEA, aka Patriot Act 2, gives the government the right to INFER when you have chosen to renounce your citizenship and do it for you. Seriously, read the damn thing and consider the implications, far-reaching and long-lasting as they are. Then drop your Congressperson a line and tell 'em that damn thing is bogus and you prefer to keep your freedom, citizenship, and constitutional rights, thank you very much. While you're at it, and if you're so inclined, tell 'em you're not all that thrilled with Miguel Estrada and that the Senate needs to treat its responsibility to advise and consent with the utmost care and respect to the Constitution and the citizens it exists to protect.

BTB, when the government jumps full scale into silencing the voice of dissent in this country, what do you think the first plan of attack will be? Someone asked me that over the weekend last, and I said the right to assemble. Case in point? The proposed anti-war march in NYC that organizers wished to have in front of the UN. They were told they could rally, but they could not move, and they could not be in front of the UN. The reason? The city felt it could not provide adequate security to keep that many people safe if they moved. Unless the group provided detailed information on every person in attendance. Please.

Speaking of Last Friday
Oh, yes I was, do try and keep up. It was on Friday, February 7, that I first met The Boyfriend way back in 1997. :) I find that pretty cool.

Okay, it's late and my back hurts. Plus The Boyfriend wants me to put the laptop away now. So I will be back tomorrow or Saturday to tell you a story. A happy story. Well, maybe not *happy*, but non-political. I mean, I'll try to make it happy, but I don't really know what the day will bring, do I? I can tell you how class is going so far this semester, though, and regale you with tales of classes and classmates and stuff like that. Remember the evil, nasty, hateful, vile, vicious, insecure woman who bitch slapped my ass last semester?

She's baa-aaack.

Til then, have a Happy V-Day, cats and kittens. I am faithfully, your Katie.

Peace out.

Don't even think it, punk.

True love is the greatest thing, in the world - except for a nice MLT: mutton,
lettuce and tomato sandwich - where the mutton is lean and the tomatoes are
ripe; they're so perky. I love that.
