Want a recount in Ohio?? David Cobb of the Green Party and Libertarian Michael Badnarik feel there should be one. Not for themselves, but to insure that every vote was counted, and all of them were only counted once. ;) I frankly can't believe these two guys have joined up to do this on behalf of Americans and not themselves, but as Cobb got 24 votes in the state, you know neither of them think they could actually *win*, so their reasons must be pretty altruistic. Either way, I don't care; I love them both immensely. :) Recounts cost money, though, and they need help paying for it, so go here and give till it feels GREAT. It's bullshit, btw, that despite having previously shown Saving Private Ryan on Veteran's Day in both 2001 and 2002, 20 ABC affiliates have been forced to yank the film from their schedules tonight because the FCC will not tell them in advance whether or not it considers the movie profane/indecent. WTF is up with that? Is it that the FCC does not want the movie shown during the occupation of Iraq, or is it just that the agency prefers to ambush affiliates with hefty fines? You might be wondering what the big deal is, as the movie has already been aired in its entirety on network television. The deal is that the FCC has issued new, more stringent regulations in the wake of Janet Jackson's Superbowl "wardrobe malfunction" and Bono's having excitedly saying the dreaded f'ing-word during the 2003 Golden Globe Awards. So no one knows whether or not they're gonna get spanked by the FCC, no one wants to risk the hefty fine, and the FCC - in characteristically boorish administration fashion - refuses to clarify the rules or verify whether or not the film violates them. I'm sorry, but that is immature bullshit of the highest order. More later, on Ohio, Florida, apologizing to the world, Keith Olbermann (whom I never liked before but do now), and what's been going on in the blogosphere, for those of you who don't bother to keep up. For now, I'm working. Peace out, copyright 2002
