So, I got a job. A union job. As in, it is mandatory I join the union (to the tune of a $300 initiation fee, and I assume yearly dues) at the end of my first 90 days. I probably have to pay for my uniform, too. And the whopping huge wage this union gig pays? $8.90 an hour. I'm not kidding. In a state where the minimum wage is $6.75 and rent on a low-income 1 bedroom apartment in a low-income building is $800 a month. And I'm not allowed any overtime. Ever. I will, however, work 10 hour days. I just won't get paid overtime for them. Man, I wish I'd taken that scholarship to Tech. Peace out, copyright 2002
