Watch out, boys and girls, rant on. I am lividly pissed off right now at the fucking Bush administration's arrogant, self-righteous crap. Idiotboy has decided to divert 1.5 Billion dollars from the federal programs they already go to for underprivileged and low-income families (to pay for stuff like food, health education, and enforcing child support) and use it instead to "promote" marriage. Seems all the little religious zealots in the country are just beside themselves with righteous fury over the state of Massachusetts' decision to allow same-sex marriage. So they plan to spend that money which would otherwise feed hungry children on - get this - advertising campaigns to publicize the value of marriage, instruction in marriage skills, and mentoring programs that use married couples as role models. Can you fucking believe that shit? Hi, yeah, I'm a little kid who hasn't had a real meal in forever, since my loser deadbeat dad skipped out on my uneducated mother who has no job skills. She can't afford child care or a good after school program for me, so I let myself into our crappy low-income aparment every day and make myself a lameass bowl of puffed rice cereal for dinner and then plop down in front of the Flintstones with the roaches until bedtime because Bush and his asshole Nazi supporters figured it would be better to spend my frigging lunch money and child care on *advertising marriage*. FUCK. God, NOTHING in this world will make me happier than to see the hindfuckingend of George Dumbaseverlastingshit Bush leaving the White House forever. In addition to this bullshit, Cheney has now come out (Bygones, my gay readers) in favor of the Federal Marriage Amendment, proposed by Colorado Republican Senator Wayne Allard and 4 or 5 of his Nazi pals, which seeks to amend the Constitution to ban all same-sex marriages/unions. The exact language in the bill is, and I quote, Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the Constitution of any State, nor State or Federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups. Thanks to those 5 little words, "or the legal incidents thereof", this amendment not only denies same-sex couples the convention of marriage, it also prohibits other basic forms of legal recognition like civil unions and domestic partnerships and the benefits and basic rights they provide. So here's my question, you Nazi fucks: why are you so frigging terrified of allowing lesbian and gay domestic partners to do things you are allowed to take for granted? Things like visit each other in the hospital or make important health care and financial decisions for one another? Why should only straight people get to have those basic rights? For that fucking matter, why do you have to be married to be able to do that? I have absolutely no plans to marry TB at this time, but that does not lessen the fact that we are in a long-term, committed relationship, and have been for the last 3 years. And why the fuck shouldn't gay people who are in committed domestic unions for life get to file joint tax returns and receive the same benefits as married people? Marriage, I hate to burst your tiny little bubble - did not start as a fucking religious convention. It was an economic one. It still is, in many cases and places in the world. And even were it not, what the fuck is so wrong with you, that you can't acknowledge that not only is everyone NOT like you, thank GOD, but that they are also entitled to feel, act, think, and look differently? This country was founded on the premise that all human beings are entitled to equal protection under the law, and that a government has no right to abuse or infringe upon those rights: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Recognize those words, you rightwing assholes? They were drafted by a pretty smart guy, albeit not always the most cognizant of his meanings and the ramifications thereof, but a pretty damned bright guy, all the same. 55 other guys agreed with him, and together, they made up the whole governing body of a new and burgeoning nation boldly striking out on its own on the basis that all people are entitled to certain inalienable Rights. ALL PEOPLE. Not just the ones you like or approve of. Among the 56 men loudly, boldly, and risking their lives in order to proclaim the right of all people to be treated like human beings were Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, John Hancock, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, George Wythe, Stephen Hopkins, and many more who were smarter by far then the buffoon we currently have in the White House. I hope their heads will prevail, and others like them, and soon. John Hopkins had great faith in the common man and a marked contempt for unreasonable - and unreasoned - figures of authority.
