I have been running a temp and feeling crummy for like a week, now. I don't actually feel like writing anything, but that entry was depressing, so I thought I'd post something just for the change and all. Hope everyone had a happy Memorial Day weekend. We're sure chasing it big, with the 60th anniversary of D-Day this year, aren't we? I saw a pretty cool Dateline with Tom Brokaw on MSNBC (I think CBS ran it the hour before), that was about the Battle of Graignes, called "D-Day: A Leap Into History." If you get the chance, I recommend it. At least the second hour, which is about the people of Graignes and the 507th Airborne. Graignes is the town in Normandy where two priests and a large portion of the citizenry were executed for helping an American unit, and the town was totally destroyed, including a 12th century church. (The townspeople suffered more losses than the GI's did, actually, though only by like 2 or 4 people.) I'd heard a really truncated version of the story before, so it was nice to get the whole story, firsthand. It was interesting and a very good tribute. I really wish I could have gone to France this summer. I'd like to have been able to be in Graignes and the beaches today. That's about it. I really feel pretty crummy. Peace out, copyright 2002
