Fire bad, smoke sucky. The air was clear when I got to work today - or what passes for clear in Southern California. When I got out of work? Not so much. It's like looking through fog, if the fog were completely dry, warm, and grey. I can't see any mountains but the ones closest to me. Anything on the other side of the Valley is completely obscured. Forget about the ones further down the 101, east or west. Mountains? What mountains? All I got are the hills I live in, and a few crests 2-3 miles away. It's seriously bizarre, and the quality of light is just flat out strange. Also, my throat hurts like a mother, and I've been out of work less than an hour. My eyes burn a little, too, and I was relatively uncongested while I was inside, but now breathing is damned freaking difficult to do, and I can't swallow past the lump of mucus and pollutants in my throat to save my life. And okay, that was pretty graphic, and I'm sorry about that, but trust me, it didn't even begin to describe the labor involved. I need to find my inhaler. :( Anyway, I'm late for dinner, so I gotta go. Peace out, copyright 2002
