Katie Doyle, Girl About Town

Yesterday's entry about fire was not meant to imply my internet peeps were not there for me when the Big Mean Fire came close to us in 2005. My internet peeps were TOTALLY there for me. It was the people I know in the real world, who do not live here in LA, who were supremely silent on the whole matter. Like, even my mom, which is just weird. When she finally called me back, 3 days after the fire was out, she was all, "Oh, there was a fire?" Which I'm not complaining about, I just thought it was really freaking weird at that time, and rather funny now, given how most of them have called me more than once to make sure I'm fine, and the contrasting conditions this time around. I'm not all "poor me, no one cares," I'm more, "Jeez, people, calm down, I'm fine." Which is mostly because I posted a few smoke images on Flickr, and I got some comments on them and a lot of Flickr mail about how concerned people are/were for me, and that makes me feel a little embarrassed, because I'm in no danger whatsoever, and I don't want anyone to think I am or that I think I am. It's a weird situation, in that it makes me feel like the girl who secretly cried wolf. But it is nice that people care, and it's nice that they want me to know they care, and it was really nice in 2005, when I was a little freaked out, that you guys were all supportive and concerned. So please don't EVER think I think you guys aren't all there for me, yo. Because I totally know you are. :)

(And so are my friends and family in Non-Virtual Life, they just don't always actively demonstrate it by calling to make sure I'm not combusting. It's okay, because I know they love me, too. :) )

And thank you to those of you who have sent me notes/mail regarding Face. Thank you for extending those kind thoughts to his family, as well.

All you guys take care this weekend. Have fun and stay dry/comfy/safe/warm/cool and flame-retardant. ;)
