This is my second post today; I was reading news and discovered something I thought worth commenting on, but I got a really awesome gift from a fellow D'lander, so please read my earlier post too. It's completely happy, I promise. I say that because this one isn't, so much, though it's not necessarily unhappy, just a small observation.

I noticed a bit of a change in the city the last 10 days or so. Just slight changes and unusual activity, but enough to make me go "hmmm." In just the last 3 days, there have been 3 separate incidences of weirdness in the subway, two of them on the same day. I figured that what with all the stuff that happened in England, there was probably some chatter on the wire regarding Paris or France, so the authorities were being extra careful. This* hit the news tonight.

So I guess my instincts are fairly solid. Um...good to know?

* When you read that article, pay special attention to the last paragraph. Just cements what fucking assholes terrorists are. The people were tired of violence in Algeria, so the rebels there decided to pledge themselves to Al Qaeda. Just proves terrorists don't give a shit about ideals or causes. It's all about hate, control, and violence, and not a goddamned thing else. Um, and also, I think I'm PMS'g. Sorry.

I'm not really worried, but I don't plan to ride the subway during rush hour either, if I can help it. Rush hour here would be an ideal time to cause serious problems; every car is pretty much packed, and the platform loads up again as soon as the car doors close and the train starts to pull out. I hate riding at rush hour anyway, so it's no hardship to try not to, believe me. On those occasions I'm standing on a platform and realize it is rush hour, I heave a massive inward groan, it's just that unpleasant an experience. So no, no problem trying to avoid it. None at all.

Peace out,
Katie
