Friday Finds, a day late, because yesterday was a looong day. I had nothing to do at all a great portion of the day, and then at 6:15, Christiane - who clearly can not manage her work tasks or time, since she consistently drops things on others at the last minute like she just that very second realized it needed to be done - decides she needs me to do the HTDT Selects. Which meant as I was wrapping up a project I did not get until 4:00 that afternoon, I now had the added pleasure of looking through all the story/field notes to find all the times someone said "How'd they do that?" or "That's how they do that!" and cut and paste them all into a document, along with information such as what camera was used to shoot them, etc. At 6:15pm on a Friday evening in a holiday weekend. And it's not the work itself that annoys the living crap out of me, it's that it had to be done late on a fucking Friday when for 2 hours during the day I had nothing to do but surf the web with my feet literally up on the desk. And she knew that, because she passed me several times while I was doing it. But somehow the fact that the selects had to be done managed to completely escape her attention until 6:15. Friday evening.

Also, I came home Wednesday night and decided 'you know, screw this'. I went back in on Thursday morning and told Mike that in light of our conversation the day before, I thought it best next Friday be my last day there, thanked him, and went to work. I will miss the income but not the job. In the slightest. I am gratified, however, to find out that a LOT of people are up in arms over how I was treated, and have gone to the executive producer in charge of the show and complained about it. That was nice to find out.

And now, the Friday Finds.

The first two are courtesy JonnyC, and are how I spent the 2 hours Friday when I was surfing.

From two of the writers at Television Without Pity comes a delightfully witty snark site called Go Fug Yourself, which prompted the question who the hell are Bai Ling and Courtney Peldon? A google of Courtney Peldon turns up the website Peldon.com, which is a site put together by Courtney and her remarkably slutty-looking sister Ashley. They are ex-child actors and proof-positive that a good publicist can get attention for anyone.

Ever wonder what your blog would sound like if Snoop Dogg had input into how it was written? For that little sum'n sum'n of "ghetto cool," check out Gizoogle.

For an unusual gift to help people of impoverished nations, try Heifer International and give the gift of a rabbit, chicks, geese, sheep, llamas, or even a share in a water buffalo to a family in one of 47 third world nations. Heifer teaches the recipients of the program animal husbundry and places them in a position to be charitable as well, as recipients must also share the offspring of the animals they are given with others in need. The program is almost 60 years old and one I think that benefits us all, as in addition to bestowing pride and dignity on people living in poverty-stricken countries, it also teaches the communities benefitting from the program to care for their land, water, and other natural resources. Big business must really hate it.

This must be the most ridiculous, gag-me-please thing I have ever seen in my entire life. Seriously. Blech. But what I really want to know is, if you and your honey are wearing it in line at the ski lift, who gets to wear it on the way down?

If you dream of collecting art but don't have the budget for Monets, Lautrecs or Picassos, check out Lost Art. Who knows? Today's undiscovered impressionist could be tomorrow's Rembrandt.

Hey. It could happen.

Peace out,
Katie
