You guys rock. My thanks and Rachel's to all of you who bought a candle or body butter from her mom. :) There were a lot of requests for more information and product in her inbox this morning, so kudos to alla ya. :) You restore my faith in the kindness of strangers, at least for a while. :)

Another hearty thank you to Pamela Ribon of pamie.com, who also posted Rachel's plea to her weblog. Between you guys and the Pamie readers, life is looking much brighter for Rachel's parents. Kudos. :)

So, I had a job interview yesterday, which was less cool than I had hoped for. It's really two jobs rolled into one, for the low end of pay of only one job. And they won't be making a decision for another few weeks, which is bad if you are overdrawn at the bank, with bills staring you in the face going "Pay me. Pay me now." :( But happily, someone else called me in for another interview tomorrow (ITM #4!!!). It's for a company I have heard nothing but horror stories about, so that's not exactly cool, and it's located all the way down at Sunset & Gower, which is also a longass drive and not cool, but at this point, I do not get to be choosy. So I will spend an hour and a half in the hot, hot sun on the 101 tomorrow, dripping sweat and nervously hoping I get a job I do not want, because damn it, those bills are getting louder. And a helluva lot pushier.

When I was a kid, I thought I was going to grow up to be this fabulous actress, married to a fabulous guy, with perhaps some fabulous kids, living a fabulous life doing fabulous movies.

Alas, I live an incredibly boring and more than slightly depressing life completely and utterly lacking in anything even mildly approaching glamour or fabulousness.

Some days it's really hard to get out of bed. ::sigh::

To celebrate my not getting hired yesterday, I came home and washed and waxed my car. This resulted in my tearing a huge hole in my thumb on my broken radio antenna and in fucking up the paint on my car by using a non-abrasive scrubby sponge on all the pine sap that was stuck all over my car.

Can someone explain to me why a non-abrasive scrubby sponge will not scratch a non-stick pan, but it will fully demolish the finish on your car, even when you don't scrub hard with it? The stupid sponge will not even scratch up my frigging tupperware. My CAR, however?

Dude.

I am not happy. I am, in fact, trying really hard not to cry. Because I don't have much in the way of big ticket items, and that car might not be much to someone else, but you really are what you drive, and I was fairly happy to be driving a cute little blue compact, dependable Honda Civic that still looks really nice and practically new, despite it's age. Yes, it has some dents in it, thanks to psychopaths with clubs and people who suck at parking, but nothing too hideous, and the paint was still good. So is the inside. It isn't all faded or stained and crappy. So I'm really not happy that it is now covered from bumper to bumper with little white patches of scratches which will oxidize like crazy and take the rest of the car's finish with them. I really do want to cry. If anyone knows how to fix this without having to repaint the car, please let me know.

Also, orange oil? NO. People will tell you yes. Trust me, NO. N. O. Not on your car. If I teach you nothing else but not to use orange oil and scrubby sponges on your car, in addition to not putting artichokes down the disposal, then my life will not have been lived in vain. Please, people, learn from my pain.

Aside from that and the lack of money/job thing, I had a fun day. I went down to Hollywood and got to spend time with my friends from France, as well as make some new friends from France. :) We were supposed meet in front of Grauman's Chinese at 3:00, but when I got there, they were setting up for the Dukes of Hazzard movie premier, and it was kind of a madhouse. I can now describe the scene of a movie premier for you, but it will have to wait until tomorrow, because I am really tired and have to get up for that interview tomorrow. So nighters.

Peace out,
Katie
