I gotta hand it to Santorum. That was a classy concession speech. It's 9:06am here in Paris, 12:06am in Cali, 3:06am on the East Coast. I'm callin' Virginia for Webb and Montana for fricking Burns, meaning the Senate will end in a tie. That means Cheney gets to decide which party will control the Senate, and I think we can all rest assured he'll choose his own. Nobody seemed to see Montana as the fly in the ointment. They've all be focussed on Virginia for hours. But Burns has been gaining pretty steadily on Tester for the last hour, and the counties that are still out look to be headed in slightly more his direction than Tester's. Bummer. I hate when the pundits spout stuff about how in the entire history of the country, no party has ever wrested control of the House without also taking the Senate when the other party held both sides of the Hill prior to the election. You'd think they'd have learned something from the Patriots debacle of 2004. Although frankly, I don't believe Ohio went legally. Whatever, we got the House, but the Senate will stay firmly in the oily grasp of the Pubbies. I guess you can't have everything. And I might get a pleasant surprise tomorrow, but I'm not holdin' my breath. Woulda been fun to watch Bush squirm and writhe in agony for the last two years of his term, too. Alas. Statue of Liberty picture up from earlier. Go see. Peace out, ps. don't get me started on fucking arnold schwarzenegger copyright 2002
