Well, I thought I had cable when I started this entry. It turns out I don't. I have a cable box. That's not the same thing. It's stuck on one channel. I can't change the channel. I can't access the menu. I can't do anything but turn it on or off and adjust the volume. This is my hell. So let's see, what have I been up to? Well...it rained most of Monday, which is good, since I spent it waiting for the damn cable guy. Ditto Tuesday, on all counts. Yesterday, I met my friend Beth and we had lunch in this totally yummy place near Grands Boulevards called Saveurs & Coincidences. I had chicken in coconut curry sauce with some kind of millet cake and cauliflower, and I'm not kidding, it was so good I even liked the cauliflower, and I am so NOT a fan of cauliflower, especially the cooked. Beth had the salade de boeuf, and it too was really good. They make everything fresh when you order it; nothing premade. And it was still the fastest food I've ever gotten in my life. Seriously, the drive through takes longer. I want to go back, because dayam, that was some good food. :) Very filling, too. After that, Beth had an appointment with a jeweler, so we kept that, and then I went with her to Gare du Nord to grab her train, and we sat in the cafe and I looked through her jewelry book, which is amazing. She makes freaking gorgeous jewelry, and she barely charges for any of it. I keep yelling at her to raise her prices, because I don't see how she's even making labor off the stuff. And I mean seriously, it's beautiful, beautiful stuff. I coveted a great deal of it, not only wishing I had an eye like she does but also to wear, because it was really awesome. She's really an artist. MP called Noos to make me a new appointment when they didn't show up yesterday, and she managed to get them to accept my home phone number instead of my landlord's cell phone, so the guy called this morning at 8:45 and said he was on the way. He got here at about 9:30 and replaced the box, explained not to touch it for 15 minutes (I gave it 45) and then went away. He was here for a total of 10 minutes. I was really happy until I discovered I couldn't see anything except for the channels advertising pay-per-view, and somehow I managed to freeze it on one of those so that I can now no longer do anything. I can't undo whatever I did. How fucking hard can it be to work a fucking cable box? Even in a foreign language, it can't possibly be this fucking difficult. It's not like it's written in cyrillic, for pete's sake. I actually almost read french. So this is fucking irritating. I have to go, now. I think I need to cry. copyright 2002
